Freesia Chaika

Georgian breeding for exquisite interiors

The Freesia cultivar 'Chaika' is the result of long-term work by scientists at the Federal Research Center for Subtropical Scientific Center of the RAS. Developed in Georgia, this cultivar is a unique example of adaptive breeding focused on ornamental floriculture. 'Chaika' has established a strong presence in the potted plant segment, demonstrating high aesthetic value and reliable development under controlled environmental conditions.

Botanical profile and decorative features

A distinctive feature of this hybrid is its complex petal palette, which combines white, pink, and violet hues. Such diversity within a single cultivar allows florists and enthusiasts to create striking visual compositions. Depending on light intensity and microclimate, the blooms range from semi-double to impressive double forms.

• Flower diameter: 6–7 cm, which is an optimal metric for compact potted plants.
• Inflorescence structure: the combination of double-petal density and elegant architecture ensures the flower remains resilient against premature wilting.
• Reputation: the cultivar is highly regarded for its hardiness and flowering consistency, making it a favorite for both professional and home cultivation.

'Chaika' is an ideal choice for those seeking a balance between classic aesthetics and modern breeding durability. Due to its compact size, it fits seamlessly into limited spaces—from city apartments to greenhouse zones—retaining its decorative appeal throughout the entire flowering period.
