Description Chaika
Freesia CHAYKA is a garden hybrid of the iris family, obtained by crossing Freesia bracteata and Freesia armstrongii. The plants are distinguished by their large size: height reaches 60–80 cm, sometimes up to 100 cm, and flowers – up to 6 cm in diameter. Inflorescences are gathered in 10–12 pieces, which gives them a massive and impressive appearance.

The color palette of Freesia CHAYKA varies from pure white to raspberry and purple shades, and the petals are semi-double and double. The aroma of the plant resembles the scent of a lily of the valley – sweet, lasting and pleasant, which makes it popular both in garden compositions and in home decor.

For successful cultivation of Freesia CHAYKA, loose, moisture-retentive soil with a fertile layer of 25–30 cm is required. Optimal acidity – pH 5.8–6.5 on peat and 6–6.8 on ordinary soil. The plant consumes nutrients highly, so it is recommended to use humus, composts, and slow-acting fertilizers (blood meal, albumin). When planting in soil greenhouses with subsoil heating, better air exchange is achieved and over-wetting is prevented. Freesia can be grown both in open ground and in pots for home decor, where it will delight its aroma and large flowers up to three times a year.
