Description Magnum
Beetroot variety Magnum is a triploid, single-stemmed type with a cylindrical-conical root shape and white flesh. Roots weigh approximately 806 grams and are colored green to red at the top. Root penetration into the soil is about half the length, facilitating mechanical harvesting. The variety has high dry matter yield — on average 98.6 centners per hectare, exceeding the average standard by 8.6 centners, with maximum yields reaching 130 centners per hectare. Dry matter content varies from 18.5% to 24.1%, sugar content from 13.1% to 16.2%, and protein content around 1.1%.

Magnum belongs to fodder beet varieties widely used in livestock farming for feeding cattle due to its good taste and high digestibility. The vegetation period ranges from 140 to 159 days. The variety is resistant to root maggots and mosaic disease, and shows low susceptibility to yellows. It is recommended to grow after cereal crops and annual grasses, requiring adequate moisture, especially during germination, which begins at soil temperatures of 3–4 °C.

For sowing, the optimal seed depth for Magnum fodder beet is 3–6 cm depending on soil type, with row spacing of about 45 cm. The variety retains well after harvest, making it a reliable and nutritious feed. Due to its morphological and agronomic characteristics, Magnum is an effective choice for the Central, North Caucasus, and Volga Federal Districts of Russia.
