Podolyanka

Podolyanka — a grain pea variety developed at the Podilsky State Agrarian and Technical University. Plants have a bushy form and reach a height of 55–58 cm. Flowers are white, and lower pods are attached at a height of 12–15 cm above the ground. Seeds are white, elliptical, smooth, shiny, with a characteristic white hilum. The 1000-seed weight is 230–245 grams, indicating large and high-quality seeds.

This variety is distinguished by high resistance to pod cracking, which significantly simplifies harvesting and reduces yield losses. Podolyanka is cold-tolerant, allowing it to be grown under various climatic conditions. The vegetation period is 80–85 days, making it relatively early and enabling stable yields. Expected yield reaches 26.5–27.0 centners per hectare, which is a good indicator for grain peas.

Podolyanka pea has high culinary qualities and cooks well, making it popular in both culinary and industrial processing. Due to its characteristics, the variety is suitable for mechanized harvesting, reducing labor costs and increasing production efficiency. High protein content in the seeds — up to 26% — makes this variety nutritious and beneficial.
