Bean Fresano

Technical Specifications and Plant Architecture

Fresano, developed by Nunhems (Netherlands), is a high-performance bush bean variety engineered for professional vegetable production. Its design focuses on structural stability and consistent yield, making it a reliable choice for commercial growers looking for efficiency in harvesting and uniform crop quality.

Vegetation and Growth Parameters

With a maturity period of up to 65 days, Fresano falls into the mid-early segment. The plant exhibits a sturdy bush-type growth habit. This architecture ensures the crop remains compact and prevents lodging during heavy pod set, which is crucial for maintaining pod quality and minimizing contact with the soil—a vital factor in preventing contamination and disease pressure.

Pod Quality and Market Performance

• Technical Maturity: The pods feature a deep, vibrant green color, signaling high chlorophyll content and overall freshness.
• Texture and Culinary Value: As a sugar bean (snap bean) type, Fresano is specifically bred for the absence of a parchment layer and fibrous strings, resulting in a tender, premium mouthfeel.
• Uniformity: The pods show remarkable consistency in size and weight across the plant, which optimizes sorting processes and enhances the commercial appeal for high-end retail markets.

By opting for a bush-type habit, Nunhems provides a solution that reduces labor costs by eliminating the need for trellising, while the predictable maturity window allows growers to manage their harvesting logistics with precision.
