Bean Freya

Genetics and Adaptive Potential

The 'Freya' bean variety, developed by Iksgp Naan, is a clear example of adaptive selection focused on yield consistency within Ukraine's specific climatic zones. A fundamental trait of this variety is its crop uniformity, which is vital for efficient mechanical harvesting and subsequent post-harvest handling.

Technological Specifications of the Seed

The key value node of 'Freya' lies in its seed stock. The crisp white color is a result of genetic line purity, which minimizes the inclusion of off-type grains. For processing plants, this translates into direct operational benefits:

• High Marketability Index: Consistent color minimizes the need for rigorous color sorting.
• Consistent Culinary Profile: Predictable cooking times due to uniform seed coat density.
• Agrotechnical Reliability: Seeds demonstrate high germination energy, reducing the risks of uneven stands when sowing in cool soil.

Practical cultivation experience shows that 'Freya' reaches its potential when adhering to the planting densities recommended by the breeder. This allows the plant to form a robust, lodging-resistant stem that keeps the pods at a sufficient height above the soil, effectively mitigating the risk of soil-borne pathogens and rot. Its strong adaptive response to humidity fluctuations during the flowering stage makes this variety a reliable tool for minimizing agricultural production risks.
