Salad Sigal is a type of Frisee endive variety developed by Rijk Zwaan in the Netherlands. It is characterized by a dark green color and deeply cut leaves gathered into a compact rosette. The average harvest weight reaches 500 grams, and the maturation period is between 65 to 75 days, making it particularly productive in the spring-summer season.
Sigal adapts well to various climatic conditions: it is resistant to heat and cold, not prone to powdery mildew, and does not require treatment for lettuce moth. The variety also possesses high resistance to bolting and ring spot, ensuring a stable yield even under unfavorable weather conditions.
This endive is suitable for both fresh consumption and processing into salad mixes. The leaves maintain their structure during transport without losses and are stored well in the cold due to the high percentage of blanched part, which is devoid of characteristic bitterness. Regular watering and timely soil loosening contribute to maximum yield.
