Endive BEKELE

Professional insights on growing Bekele endive

When selecting seeds for large-scale production, predictability is the most critical asset. The Bekele variety from Enza Limited represents the high standard of Dutch breeding, providing consistent results that make daily farm management much easier.

Growth patterns and field performance

Bekele is a classic curly endive (frisée) known for its compact and efficient growth habit. With a rosette width of 35–45 cm, it allows for optimal plant spacing, preventing overcrowding while ensuring maximum quality per square meter. In greenhouses, the variety responds exceptionally well to climate control, producing uniform, lush, and curly leaves that are ready for harvest simultaneously. This uniformity is a major advantage for harvesting and post-harvest handling, significantly reducing labor time.

Market utility and quality

The culinary profile of Bekele is highly regarded in the HoReCa sector. Its distinct curly leaf structure provides excellent visual volume in salads, while the classic, slightly bitter flavor profile is exactly what chefs look for in a quality frisée. The leaves maintain their texture well even when dressed, making it a reliable ingredient for professional salad mixes. Its robustness makes it a profitable choice for growers looking for premium market appearance without excessive maintenance risks.
