Eggplant Onyx

Spanish Breeding for the Premium Vegetable Market

The 'Onix' eggplant from the renowned Spanish seed house Semillas Fito is the choice for professionals focused on producing large-fruit crops with outstanding gastronomic characteristics. This hybrid has firmly established itself in the professional vegetable growing segment as a solution capable of ensuring stable yields even under intensive farming conditions.

Agronomic Profile and Fruit Characteristics

The key feature of 'Onix' is its ability to form massive fruits weighing between 800 and 1000 grams. Unlike standard cylindrical varieties, this hybrid possesses a distinct flattened shape, making it a recognizable product on supermarket shelves and fresh produce markets.

The visual qualities of the fruit deserve special attention: the combination of a deep dark-purple color with characteristic green hues gives the vegetable a striking appearance. Due to the dense structure of the flesh, 'Onix' retains its marketability during transport, which is critical for commercial production.

Versatility in Cultivation

Semillas Fito developed this hybrid with an emphasis on plasticity. 'Onix' demonstrates high efficiency both in greenhouses, ensuring early harvest, and in open field conditions, where it unlocks its full potential when provided with adequate nutrients. The hybrid adapts well to temperature fluctuations, which helps mitigate risks associated with microclimate irregularities in greenhouses.

Why choose 'Onix'?

• Impressive fruit size: stable weight up to 1 kg when following proper agricultural practices.
• Spanish seed quality: genetic purity and high germination energy.
• Commercial appeal: unique shape and color distinguish this eggplant from competitors.
• Flexibility: suitable for use in various cultivation systems.

For a grower, 'Onix' is not just seed material, but a tool to meet market demand for large, high-quality eggplants, which are in high demand both in the HoReCa segment and in retail trade.
