Daikon RUSSIAN DELICACY

Working with «Russkiy Delikates» Daikon

The «Russkiy Delikates» from «Geterozisnaya Selektsiya» is a reliable performer that behaves predictably regardless of minor weather fluctuations. Over a 70–80 day vegetation period, the roots reach their impressive size without bolting prematurely, which is a major benefit for scheduling harvests.

Field Performance and Characteristics

• Shape and Dimensions: The roots truly reach the claimed 40–60 cm. When dealing with such long, cylindrical varieties, soil preparation is key. While they can be tricky to pull from heavy soil, deep tilling ensures perfectly straight roots.
• Taste Profile: The flesh is white, firm, and very juicy. Its mild, slightly spicy flavor makes it an incredibly versatile vegetable for both fresh salads and winter storage.
• It shows high adaptability and consistent growth across different growing zones.

Maintenance is straightforward. The most important factor is consistent moisture, as the long root structure can become fibrous if the plant is stressed by drought. With proper soil management, «Russkiy Delikates» provides excellent marketability. The harvested roots have good shelf life, holding their shape and crispness well after being pulled from the ground. It is an honest, hardworking variety that rarely disappoints.
