Description Sadko
Medium-ripening variety, obtained at the Mountain Horticulture Department of the Siberian Institute of Horticulture named after M.A. Lisavenko by crossing a Siberian subspecies form and the variety Yadrnaya. Authors: L.N. Zabelina, E.I. Nakvasina. Under state variety testing since 2004.

Bush is vigorous, moderately spreading, medium density. Growing shoots are of medium thickness, straight, bright green with a pinkish tip, densely covered with short hairs. Woody shoots are of medium thickness, gray-brown with numerous bright yellow glands, weakly hairy. Buds are medium, single, egg-shaped, slightly pointed, light green with yellowing due to abundant glands, hairy, deviated from shoots, apical free.

Leaf is five-lobed, medium, yellow-green, without hairs, weakly wrinkled, medium density, concave, matte. Central lobe is elongated, angle between central veins of lateral lobes is straight. Basal lobes are moderately and weakly developed, veins spread out or directed towards leaf apex. Leaf base has a small, open notch. Teeth are short, serrated, medium length, with white tips, bent inward by the notch. Color of main veins is light green or slightly pink. Petioles are of medium length and thickness, weakly hairy, brown-green, with anthocyanic coloration at edges, often accompanied by stipules, located at a right angle in lower part of shoot, and at an acute angle (30°) in upper part of shoot.

Flowers are medium, sepals are pink, petals are cream, not closed, deviated. Inflorescences are medium length (4-6 berries) and thickness, medium density, axis weakly hairy, light green.

Berries are large (2.0 g), round, single-ribbed, black with brown tint, weakly glossy, with moderate amount of small and medium seeds, thin, tender skin with dry detachment, sour-sweet dessert flavor, strong aroma. Calyx is small, falling off. Peduncle is short, light green, weakly hairy. Chemical composition: dry solids — 11.2-15.9%, total sugars — 6.3-8.9%, titratable acidity — 2.2-3.6%, ascorbic acid — 80.0-82.0 mg/100 g, pectic substances — 1.1%.

Variety is winter-hardy, self-fertile (48%), resistant to fungal diseases, high-yielding (9.1 t/ha).

Advantages of the variety: large berry size, dessert flavor of berries, good recovery ability, easy propagation, resistance to fungal diseases.

Disadvantages of the variety: insufficient resistance to currant gall aphid, bud mite, rust.
