Currant LEVUSHKA

Why «Levushka» is Redefining Golden Currant Standards

Golden currant has long remained in the shadow of its black cousin, but the «Levushka» variety from FANTSA is successfully challenging that status quo. Unlike many cultivars that focus solely on ornamental features or industrial processing, this hybrid offers a rare synergy of large fruit size and phenomenal resilience.

Key Advantages

• Yield as a Primary Asset: With a yield of 5–7 kg per bush, «Levushka» is a top contender for both commercial growers and home orchards. With proper agrotechnical care, the bush is exceptionally prolific.
• Size and Quality: Berries measuring up to 1.8 cm in diameter (with clusters up to 3.5 cm long) look impressive and maintain their structure during transport, which is essential for market success.
• Resistance to Common Threats: The primary pests and diseases for currants — bud mites, septoria, and powdery mildew — are no match for this variety. Its genetic resistance significantly reduces the need for fungicides, leading to a more sustainable production process.

Who Should Choose This Variety

«Levushka» is an ideal selection for regions with harsh climates. Its winter hardiness down to -35°C ensures survival in zones where other varieties might freeze or require complex winter protection. The semi-spreading growth habit facilitates easier harvesting, making it well-suited for larger commercial plantings.

Potential Drawbacks: Like any golden currant, this variety requires an understanding of its specific biological needs. It is generally more sensitive to light and soil quality than common black currant. Without adequate irrigation during dry spells, fruit size may decrease and sweetness levels might drop.

In summary: «Levushka» by FANTSA is a reliable workhorse for farmers who prioritize consistency and stable yields without the high overhead costs of intensive chemical protection.
