Description WILLINA
Cucumber 'Willina F1' is a parthenocarpic hybrid developed by the All-Russian Research Institute of Vegetable Growing and recommended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the Northwestern, Central, Central Chernozem, Far Eastern, and East Siberian regions. This hybrid is intended for protected soil cultivation and is suitable for winter-spring culture, and in the East Siberian region — for autumn-winter culture. The plants are indeterminate, long-vined, strongly branching with moderate leafiness and female flowering type. Leaves are angular-heart-shaped, wrinkled, dark green, and the ovary is cylindrical and warty with sparse white hairs. Cucumber fruits 'Willina F1' have a paddle-like shape, approximately 21 cm long and 5 cm in diameter, with a smooth dark green surface and short neck. The weight of green fruits varies from 192 to 245 grams, and the fruit cross-section is round. The taste quality of the fruits is rated as good to excellent, making this hybrid attractive for salad use. The time to fruiting is 54-66 days after germination in winter-spring culture and 48-49 days in autumn-winter culture. The hybrid is characterized by high commercial yield, reaching 18.3-18.4 kg/m² in the Central region, 19.0-27.6 kg/m² in the Far Eastern region, and 6.0-8.8 kg/m² in the East Siberian region. 'Willina F1' is resistant to olive spot and has moderate resistance to powdery mildew and fusarium wilt. However, it is highly susceptible to ascochitosis, bacterial disease, and false powdery mildew. Due to the combination of high yield and excellent taste qualities, this hybrid is a valuable choice for cultivation in protected soil in the specified regions.
