Avensis

Avensis F1 Cucumber — a fast-maturing parthenocarpic hybrid developed by the Korean seed company Nong Woo Bio. The vegetative period from germination to fruiting is 39–44 days, allowing for an early harvest. Plants are vigorous, medium-branched with limited lateral branching, simplifying care and increasing cultivation efficiency. The hybrid is suitable for cultivation both in open ground and in protected conditions — plastic greenhouses and glasshouses. Avensis fruits are cylindrical, 11–13 cm long and 3.5–4 cm in diameter, weighing 120–130 g. They are dark green with a bumpy surface and white spines. The cucumbers are uniform, non-bitter, and free of internal cavities, making them ideal for fresh consumption, pickling, and marinating. Thanks to their dense skin, the fruits withstand transportation well and retain their market appearance, which is especially important for fresh market sales. The Avensis hybrid has high and stable yields — up to 12–13 kg per square meter. Each node forms 3–5 fruit set, contributing to abundant fruiting throughout the vegetative period. Additionally, the variety is resistant to common fungal diseases such as powdery mildew (both true and false), olive spot, and root rots, reducing the need for frequent treatments and increasing harvest reliability. The optimal soil temperature for seed germination is 25–30 °C, and sowing is recommended in late April — early May, with transplanting into the ground in late May — early June.
