Cantara

Cantara F1 is an early parthenocarpic hybrid of cornichon type, developed by the Dutch seed company Rijk Zwaan. Plants are characterized by a strong root system and medium height with a well-developed lateral branching system, ensuring high productivity even under stress conditions. The maturity period is 40-42 days, making this variety especially attractive for second crop cultivation and greenhouse growing.

Cantara fruits have a rich dark green color, large-warty surface, and cylindrical shape with a length-to-diameter ratio of approximately 3.2:1.0. They are uniform with thin, protruding spines, facilitating harvest. The flesh is firm, juicy, crisp, with a bright flavor and aroma. These cucumbers are versatile in use: suitable for fresh consumption, salad preparation, as well as industrial processing including canning and pickling, without losing their flavor qualities.

The Cantara hybrid exhibits high resistance to major cucumber diseases, such as cucumber mosaic virus (CMV), Cladosporium cucumerinum, Sphaerotheca fuliginea, and false powdery mildew. Plants are capable of forming 2-3 fruits in leaf axils, ensuring continuous fruiting and stable yield. Due to these characteristics, Cantara F1 is a reliable and high-yielding variety for greenhouse and open field cultivation.
