Description SHURIK
Cucumber Shurik — this is a new super-early self-pollinating parthenocarpic hybrid, intended for cultivation in open ground, plastic covers, and glass greenhouses. The vegetative period is 39–44 days from germination, allowing for an early harvest. Plants have medium-sized vines, and the fruits are cylindrical cornichons with large, bright green ribbed skin and black spines. Fruit length ranges from 8.5 to 12 cm, and weight from 85 to 120 g. The cucumbers have excellent taste qualities, no bitterness, and are not prone to yellowing. The Shurik variety is resistant to major cucumber diseases, including cucumber mosaic virus, true powdery mildew, olive spot, and exhibits high tolerance to false powdery mildew. Thanks to these characteristics, it is suitable for universal use and ensures a stable yield with proper care. The total market yield with multiple harvests reaches up to 15 kg per square meter in open ground and up to 31 kg in covered greenhouses. For successful cultivation of cucumber Shurik, use fertile, well-aerated loamy soils. Sow seeds in soil warmed to 14–15°C at a depth of 1.5–3 cm, and transplant seedlings after the threat of frost with a density of 3–4 plants per square meter. Plants require regular watering, fertilization, and vine training with pinching off lower fruiting nodes and side shoots for proper development. Specialized fertilizers are recommended for care. When growing on a balcony, ensure a sunny location, large containers with nutrient-rich soil mix, and vertical supports for vines.
