Description KIT
Cucumber variety KIT (Cucumis sativus 'kit') was developed by the Far Eastern Research Institute of Agriculture and is intended for cultivation in open ground. This medium-maturing variety is characterized by long-vined, medium-leafy, and medium-branched plants with green, medium-sized, lobed leaves. It is insect-pollinated and versatile, recommended for garden plots, household, and small farming operations.

Fruits of the KIT variety have a cylindrical shape, ranging from 10.7 to 12 cm in length and 3.5–3.7 cm in diameter. The fruits are green with clearly defined green stripes that cover from one-quarter to half the length of the fruit. The surface is rough with sparse bumps and complex black hairs. The flesh is crisp, light green, and has good flavor. The weight of one fruit ranges from 97 to 150 grams. Dry matter content varies from 3.7 to 4.2%, sugars — from 1.4 to 2.0%, and ascorbic acid — from 7.4 to 13.9 mg per 100 g of raw product.

The variety is distinguished by high yield and fruit quality, reaching yields of 329 to 591 centners per hectare, with a maximum yield of 646 centners in the Khabarovsk Krai. The yield of marketable product ranges from 76 to 94%. KIT is resistant to bacterial wilt and has moderate resistance to false powdery mildew. Due to its characteristics, the variety is suitable for fresh consumption, as well as for canning and pickling.
