Don Juan

Cucumber Don Juan is an early parthenocarpic hybrid with a female flowering type, intended for cultivation in plastic greenhouses and open ground. Fruit set begins 37-40 days after planting, allowing for a quick harvest. The plant is moderately branched with an indeterminate growth habit, with one to three female flowers per node. The cucumbers have elongated-oval or spindle-shaped forms, measuring 10–12 cm in length, 3–3.5 cm in diameter, weighing 40–133 g, with large bumps and complex white hairs. The fruit color is dark green with sparse white hairs, and the flavor is excellent sweetness, making this variety appealing for fresh consumption and canning.

The Don Juan hybrid exhibits high resistance to common cucumber diseases such as powdery mildew and downy mildew, ensuring stable yields and reducing the need for frequent chemical treatments. Marketable yield reaches 94%, with a productivity of about 35 kg per square meter, comparable to leading standards. The plant shows prolonged and extended fruiting, lasting until late summer, allowing for fresh cucumbers throughout the season.

Don Juan is recommended for cultivation in winter-spring rotations in protected ground, as well as in open ground in central regions. Developed to compete with Dutch varieties, it features an attractive appearance and sweet taste. It has passed state variety trials and is included in the register of approved varieties, confirming its quality and reliability.
