Maize ZETA 105

Field Performance of ZETA 105

When selecting a maize hybrid for early harvest, the main goal is balancing maturity speed with disease resilience. ZETA 105, developed by Laboulet Semences, is a French-bred hybrid that brings predictability to the field. This hybrid stands out due to its robust natural resistance, particularly against stalk rots and common smut, which are often the main culprits for yield losses in early varieties.

Operational Insights

ZETA 105 features waxy kernels, a characteristic that makes it highly efficient for grain production. Maintaining a plant density of 95,000 to 100,000 seeds per hectare provides the best results. At this density, the plants develop uniform cobs, ensuring a high-quality harvest. Being an early-maturing hybrid, it fits perfectly into short seasons, minimizing the risks associated with late-season weather challenges.

Practical Management Tips

• Seeding Rate: 95-100k seeds per hectare is the sweet spot for maximizing yield potential without overcrowding.
• Harvesting: Due to the waxy grain type, ensure your combine settings are tuned to prevent kernel damage during threshing.
• Plant Health: Its innate resistance to stalk and ear rots allows you to reduce fungicide expenditure, making your operation more cost-effective.

ZETA 105 is a reliable, “no-fuss” hybrid. It delivers consistent performance throughout the growing season, maintaining plant health up until the day of harvest. For growers looking for French quality and early grain maturity, this hybrid is a dependable choice.
