Description SI Cardona
SI Cardona — an early-maturing corn hybrid developed by Syngenta, suitable for cultivation as grain or silage. The vegetative period ranges from 93 to 107 days, allowing the hybrid to be used in various climatic conditions and agronomic systems, including conventional and minimal tillage, as well as irrigation. The kernel type is semi-pearled with a distinctive coloration: the upper part is yellow-orange, and the lower part is orange. The hybrid exhibits resistance to stalk rot and gray leaf spot, ensuring stable yields and high product quality. SI Cardona is characterized by high yield potential and a balanced ratio of grain and green mass, making it versatile for various uses. In 2024, yields varied from 142.7 to 536 ц/га depending on farm conditions, with average yields of 127.2 and 161.5 ц/га in the Central and Central Chernozem regions, respectively. The grain contains 8.95% protein and 74.01% starch, making it valuable for processing and animal feed. Low lignin content enhances silage digestibility. SI Cardona demonstrates high adaptability to early planting and rapid development in early vegetative stages, ensuring good stand establishment and resilience to adverse weather conditions. Recommended planting rate is 85–90 thousand plants per hectare for grain and approximately 90 thousand for silage. The hybrid responds well to high fertility and is suitable for early harvest. Due to its cold tolerance and enhanced photosynthetic efficiency, SI Cardona is a reliable choice for farmers seeking high-quality corn yields with optimal costs.
