PORUMBENY 140 MV — this is an early-maturing hybrid corn, developed by the Institute of Plant Breeding "Porumben" in Moldova. The crop is characterized by average plant height up to 230 cm, cylindrical ears up to 30 cm long, located at a height of 70–75 cm. The kernels are semihexagonal, yellow, arranged in 18 rows, with a 1000-kernel weight of up to 340 grams. The hybrid has weak anthocyanic coloring of the silk and ear stalk, as well as a small number of primary lateral branches of the tassel with curved lateral branches. The angle between the main axis of the tassel and lateral branches is small, contributing to compact ear formation. PORUMBENY 140 MV is distinguished by high yield and stability under various climatic conditions. In Moldova, it matures in 140–145 days and shows a potential grain yield of 13 to 20 tons per hectare, and silage mass — from 45 to 80 tons per hectare. In the Middle Volga, Ural, and West Siberian regions, grain yield ranges from 20.9 to 37.7 centners per hectare, exceeding standard indicators. The hybrid is resistant to lodging and stem breakage, and possesses genetic resistance to drought, stress situations, southern helminthosporiosis, bacterial disease, and fusarium ear disease, ensuring reliable cultivation. To achieve maximum productivity, it is recommended to apply mineral fertilizers and ensure adequate soil moisture. The hybrid is suitable for cultivation as grain and silage, making it a versatile choice for agricultural enterprises. High protein (9.3%), fat (4.1%), and starch (72%) content in the grain ensures good quality feed and food raw materials. PORUMBENY 140 MV — this is a reliable and high-yielding corn hybrid, adapted to various cultivation conditions and ensuring stable yields.
