Barley Overture

French Breeding Excellence for High Yields

The «Overture» spring barley from Limagrain represents the high standards of European breeding, designed specifically for intensive farming systems. Originally developed in France, this variety has established itself among farmers as a robust tool for achieving stable yields of high-quality grain. Its success in the market is driven by a strong balance between regional adaptability and superior ear development.

Agronomic Profile and Disease Resistance

The primary value of «Overture» lies in its comprehensive genetic resistance. The variety exhibits high tolerance to the most prevalent pathogens that threaten barley crops:

• Net blotch;
• Rhynchosporium (leaf scald);
• Powdery mildew;
• Dwarf leaf rust.

This immune profile allows agronomists to optimize their fungicide programs, reducing chemical input costs while maintaining yield safety. With a growing season of 80–90 days, the variety fits perfectly into crop rotations that require timely harvesting.

Biological Specifications

«Overture» is characterized by stable grain size and quality. The thousand-kernel weight (TKW) typically ranges from 42 to 44 grams, reflecting a high filling potential even under moderate environmental stress. This makes the variety suitable for both feed purposes and commercial processing.

When selecting this variety, it is important to remember that «Overture» thrives under optimal sowing density and balanced mineral nutrition. Only when the intensive technology is fully utilized does this variety showcase its maximum productivity, confirming the reputation of premium seed material from Limagrain experts.
