Description Belmondo
Belmondo — this is a mid-early two-line hybrid corn (Zea mays L.), included in the State Register for the Central Chernozem and North Caucasus regions for grain and silage cultivation. The plant is of medium height with wide leaves and a long, medium-thickness ear, which has many rows of kernels. The kernel type is intermediate, with yellow coloration in the upper part. The main panicle axis is long, with a large number of primary lateral branches, and the anthocyanin pigmentation of the husk and silk is weak or absent. The medium flowering time and high yield make this hybrid attractive for farmers in the region. The Belmondo hybrid is characterized by high plasticity, good drought and cold tolerance, ensuring stable yields under various climatic conditions. It exhibits the Stay Green effect with a high rating, indicating prolonged retention of green mass and active photosynthesis during the ripening period. The ear efficiently transmits moisture, contributing to the quality ripening of kernels and reducing the risk of losses during harvest. Belmondo is resistant to southern helminthosporiosis and frogeye leaf spot, but may be susceptible to bacterial disease, ear Fusarium, and damage by the corn borer. The average grain yield in the region is approximately 69.6 c/ha, exceeding standard values by 20.2 c/ha. Due to its characteristics and adaptability, the hybrid is suitable for cultivation under various conditions and ensures high quality and quantity of harvest.
