The hybrid corn Kerberos is a high-yielding and adaptable grain-type hybrid, belonging to the mid-maturing group with FAO 310. It is adapted for cultivation in all natural-climatic zones of Ukraine and demonstrates stable productivity under both intensive and extensive farming technologies. Its genetic yield potential reaches 180 ц/ha, while practical yields vary from 100 to 144 ц/ha. The grain moisture at harvest is 15-17%, which is optimal for storage and processing.
Kerberos hybrid plants are tall, reaching 300-310 cm in height, with an ear attached at a height of 100-110 cm. The ear forms with 14 rows of dent-type kernels, each row containing 35-37 kernels. The kernels are large, with a 1000-kernel weight of 350-360 g. The hybrid features rapid moisture release due to the opening husks, facilitating harvest and reducing yield losses.
Kerberos exhibits high adaptability and drought resistance (8 out of 9 points), lodging resistance due to its strong stalk and roots, as well as resistance to smut and other diseases. It performs well on sandy soils and is suitable for planting at various sowing dates. The recommended planting density depends on the region’s moisture level: 75-80 тыс./ha in well-watered zones, 60-65 тыс./ha in moderately or poorly watered zones, allowing optimized yield under different conditions.
