Maize Kingstone

Genetics and Ear Morphology

The Kingstone hybrid from Lidea is a specialized product for the sweet corn sector, developed with French breeding expertise. Its productivity is rooted in ear architecture specifically adapted for the processing industry and the fresh produce market. The kernel possesses a distinct sweet constitution, defining both its flavor profile and the physical properties of the endosperm.

Technological Potential

• Hybrid Type: Being a simple hybrid ensures high uniformity in plant height and maturity timing. This is critical for mechanized harvesting and obtaining a uniform commercial batch.
• Kernel Constitution: The sweet-type kernel is characterized by a high content of water-soluble carbohydrates during the milk-wax stage. Lidea has optimized the plant's metabolic pathways to slow the conversion of sugars into starch, effectively extending the optimal harvest window.
• Agronomic Traits: The French breeding program prioritizes adaptability to fluctuating lighting and moisture conditions. Kingstone’s stability is supported by a robust root system capable of efficient nutrient uptake during key ear-development stages.

The practical application of this hybrid focuses on achieving high-quality yields with excellent kernel filling and flavor purity. Kingstone displays a predictable response to intensive cultivation practices, serving as a reliable tool for agronomists aiming to maximize output per hectare.
