Description Isberi
Isberi corn is a northern three-line hybrid with a siliceous-ridged kernel, intended for cultivation in northern and central chernozem regions. The plant reaches a height of approximately 255 cm, with ear attachment height of about 85 cm. This variety is characterized by early flowering and high cold tolerance, making it especially suitable for cooler-climate areas. The tassel flowering is early, and the plant has medium-sized leaves and medium ear length with a thick, slightly conical stalk. The kernel has an intermediate type, closer to siliceous, with yellow-orange coloring at the top. Isberi has a high yield potential, reaching 86 centners per hectare, significantly exceeding regional averages. The average corn yield in the Central Chernozem region is 73.2 centners per hectare, which is 11.2 centners per hectare higher than the standard. The hybrid demonstrates impressive early growth rates and high starch content, ensuring excellent energy value for silage. Additionally, the variety shows good resistance to southern helminthosporiosis and moderate susceptibility to bacterial and Fusarium ear diseases, as well as moderate damage from stalk borer. Recommended planting rates are 70–80 thousand seeds per hectare in dry zones and 80–90 thousand in well-watered conditions. For flowering, approximately 800 °C of effective temperature is required; for silage with 30% dry matter — 1340 °C; and for grain with 35% moisture — 1580 °C. The hybrid exhibits good resistance to lodging both at the beginning of vegetation and during harvest, and it shows the "Stay green" effect, which helps maintain green mass for a longer period and improves harvest quality.
