The herbicide Hovard is a selective agent for pre-emergence control of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in corn, sunflower, and soybean crops. The active ingredient is acetochlor at a concentration of 900 g/l, which effectively inhibits cell division, interrupts amino acid and auxin transport, reduces osmotic pressure, leading to the death of weed seedlings before they germinate. The product is available as an emulsion concentrate and is applied by soil incorporation before the emergence of crop plants.
To achieve maximum herbicide efficacy, it is recommended to apply it to warm and moist soil at a rate of 1.5 to 3.0 liters per hectare. In dry conditions, the soil should be pre-broadcasted or cultivated to a depth of up to 5 cm prior to application to improve the penetration of the product. The working solution is prepared at specially equipped stations, with proper sequence of adding the product and water to the sprayer tank. Application is carried out using a boom sprayer, ensuring uniform distribution of the product across the soil surface.
Hovard provides long-lasting protection for crops — over 12 weeks — effectively suppressing weeds during early growth stages. The product is compatible with tank mixtures, such as Prom BT, and degrades in soil during the vegetation period, minimizing the risk of accumulation of harmful substances. Due to its properties and ease of application, the herbicide Hovard is a reliable tool for protecting agricultural crops from weeds, contributing to increased yield and product quality.
