Maize Flagman

Working with the Flagman hybrid

For growers focusing on popcorn corn, the Flagman hybrid from the Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute is a reliable tool with a straightforward cultivation process. The main advantage of working with this hybrid is its predictability. With a vegetative period of 76-80 days, the crop follows a clear development cycle, allowing for efficient harvest planning and minimizing risks from autumn temperature fluctuations.

Operational features

In the field, the hybrid shows stable performance. Operators will appreciate its resistance to viral diseases, including various types of mosaic viruses. This is a critical factor that saves resources on unplanned fungicide treatments, directly improving the crop's cost-efficiency.

Field work and harvesting

• As a simple hybrid, it ensures uniform crop development, which simplifies combine harvester settings.
• The grain is specifically designed for popcorn production. Therefore, post-harvest handling should focus on maintaining the integrity of the kernel husk to ensure quality popping.
• Early maturity allows for timely harvesting, clearing fields for winter crops and conserving soil moisture.

Managing Flagman crops does not require complex agrotechnical procedures beyond standard corn farming practices. However, strict adherence to harvest timelines is essential to ensure the grain meets the specific requirements for popcorn. This is a robust Ukrainian-bred product designed for professionals who value consistent performance and clean genetic lines.
