Biological Defense and Morphology

A primary engineering advantage of DM Eskiz is its genetic resistance to common smut. The structural development of the ear and kernel is designed to optimize grain filling and maturation:

• Dent-type kernel: ensures high moisture release rates during the maturation phase, reducing post-harvest drying costs.
• Resilience against Ustilago diseases: engineered resistance to boil smut, loose smut, and head smut minimizes yield losses during the critical reproductive stages.

Operational Sowing Parameters

To maximize performance, the hybrid requires precise plant population management based on local soil moisture availability:

• 55,000–60,000 plants/ha: recommended for regions with limited moisture and rain-fed conditions.
• 70,000–80,000 plants/ha: recommended for intensive farming systems with optimal moisture levels.
