This maize hybrid, developed by the Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics of the NAS of Ukraine, represents a classic example of adaptive selection aimed at achieving stable grain yields under conditions of moderate moisture availability. The genetic foundation of CHKZ 18 MV utilizes a simple hybrid structure, which ensures high crop uniformity and minimizes the plant's susceptibility to climatic fluctuations during key stages of organogenesis.

• Vegetation Period: With a 90–110 day maturity window, this material is classified as medium-early. This is a critical factor for regions prone to early autumn frosts, as the crop consistently reaches physiological maturity before entering dormancy.

The primary production purpose of this hybrid is grain cultivation. The selection focus is fixed on maximizing dry grain output per hectare. The simplicity of the genetic design minimizes risks associated with trait segregation, ensuring predictable yields for farms focusing on cost-effective nutrient management. The physical integrity of the grain during harvest is maintained by tight husk coverage, which also prevents excessive moisture accumulation, simplifying post-harvest logistics.
