Chrysanthemum Zlata

Cultivation Practice: Managing the 'Zlata' Chrysanthemum

The 'Zlata' chrysanthemum, developed by the Federal Research Centre for Subtropical Science, is engineered for reliability in both commercial landscaping and private gardens. Its primary value lies in its predictability: it behaves consistently throughout the season, allowing for precise planning of your garden's aesthetic timeline.

Maintenance and Operational Performance

With a medium growth habit (30–60 cm), 'Zlata' maintains a dense, spherical form without the need for manual shaping or additional structural support. This inherent architecture reduces the man-hours required for maintenance, making it a highly efficient plant for large-scale floral displays.

• Cold Hardiness: One of the standout features of this variety is its high cold tolerance. It is well-adapted to withstand significant temperature fluctuations, which significantly decreases the risk of winter mortality and reduces the cost of seasonal protective measures.
• Flowering Cycle: The bloom starts in September and lasts for over 40 days, providing an extended window of intense yellow and orange color.
• Utility: Designed for both landscaping and cutting. Its small flower heads (up to 5 cm) provide a refined aesthetic, while the stems are rigid enough to stand up in floral arrangements, making them an excellent choice for cut flower production.

Operating 'Zlata' in an outdoor setting is straightforward. It requires minimal intervention, provided that spent flowers are pruned periodically to keep the plants looking pristine well into late autumn. It is a resilient, low-maintenance variety that delivers high visual impact with minimal resource input.
