Celery TENDER

Consistent Yields of Aromatic Greens

The leaf celery variety "Nezhny" (or "Tender") by Semko-Junior is designed for producers who prioritize high-intensity output of high-quality greens. Developed by breeder Marina Vitalievna Alexashova, this variety is specifically selected for its vigorous foliage production, making it a reliable solution for both the fresh market and culinary processing.

Field Application and Strategy

In a commercial farming context, this variety is an excellent tool for conveyor-style harvesting. With a maturation period of 120–140 days, "Nezhny" allows growers to plan planting cycles that ensure steady supply through the late summer and autumn seasons. Its practical advantages include:

• Strong regrowth energy: The plant recovers quickly after cutting, enabling multiple harvests (2-3 cuts) from the same crop.
• Upright growth habit: The leaves remain upright, which simplifies both manual and mechanical harvesting and prevents soil contamination.
• Climate resilience: The variety demonstrates high adaptability, reducing the risk of premature bolting during temperature fluctuations.

Commercial growers value "Nezhny" for its pronounced spicy aroma and vibrant, dark green leaf color, which holds up well during transport and retail display. It is highly sought after for bundled greens that maintain an attractive, fresh appearance. Additionally, due to its concentrated flavor profile, the foliage is ideal for drying and freezing, preserving its quality for off-season use.

Agrotechnical Recommendations

To achieve the maximum potential of this variety, proper spacing and moisture management are essential. As a leaf-type celery, "Nezhny" is highly sensitive to water stress; ensuring consistent irrigation throughout the active growth phase is critical to maintaining the tenderness of the stems and the intensity of the leaf flavor. Targeted nitrogen application during the peak vegetative stage will ensure vigorous foliage development, allowing producers to maximize their yield per hectare.
