Celery FITNESS

Maximizing Leafy Green Yields

The «Fitness» celery variety, developed by VNIISSOK, is a precision tool for professional growers focusing on leaf production. Unlike celeriac or stalk celery, this variety is engineered to channel its biological energy entirely into the development of high-quality foliage. It is a strategic choice for farmers aiming for consistent, high-volume yields in both open-field and greenhouse operations.

Core Agricultural Applications

• Extended Harvest Cycles: The primary advantage of this variety is its exceptional regrowth rate. It is designed to support multiple harvests throughout the season, significantly increasing the profitability per square meter for commercial growers.
• Mechanization Compatibility: Its upright rosette structure is specifically suited for automated harvesting lines, reducing labor costs and minimizing waste during the packaging process.
• Industrial Versatility: The leaves maintain high nutritional density and aromatic intensity, making the produce highly attractive for both fresh-market supply chains and the processed food industry (drying and freezing).

For optimal results, «Fitness» should be cultivated in nutrient-rich, nitrogen-supplemented loams. Since the plant does not invest energy into bulb development, an effective irrigation management plan is crucial to maintain turgidity and rapid regrowth. When managed with standard commercial plant densities, the crop provides high uniformity, allowing for efficient field operations and predictable output throughout the growth cycle.
