Kolyada

The 'Kolyada' carrot variety is a late-maturing variety with a vegetative period from germination to technical maturity of 135-145 days. The roots of this variety are large, uniform, and smooth, featuring a dark orange color and a cylindrical or slightly conical shape, ranging from 17 to 25 cm in length. The average root weight varies from 200 to 240 grams. The flesh is dark orange, tasty, and coreless, making it particularly appealing for fresh consumption, as well as for processing and freezing. The taste qualities of the variety are rated as excellent, confirming its versatility and high nutritional value.

The plant forms a semi-spreading leaf rosette with long, dark green medium-cut leaves. The root has a weak taper and a blunt base, belonging to the Berlin/Nantes variety type. The dry matter content in the roots is 13.5-14.3%, total sugar is 8.1-9.8%, and carotene is up to 20.2 mg per 100 g of raw material, ensuring bright color and beneficial properties. The commercial yield of the variety ranges from 194-293 centners per hectare, with a maximum yield of up to 376 centners per hectare, while the commercial output reaches 75-85%.

Sowing 'Kolyada' carrots is recommended from April 20 to May 5, followed by planting at a 25x6 cm scheme. Harvesting is carried out from October 1 to October 30. The variety is suitable for fresh consumption, canning, freezing, and winter storage, making it a versatile choice for various applications and ensuring stable product quality throughout the season.
