Carrot Crispycut

Why «Crispikat» is the choice for industrial processing

In large-scale commercial farming, the requirements for carrots go far beyond simple aesthetics. The «Crispikat» hybrid, developed by the Dutch seed house Nunhems, is specifically engineered to meet the rigid demands of industrial processing plants. Whether your focus is high-yield juicing, frozen vegetable blends, or high-end retail slicing, this hybrid sets the industry benchmark for quality and efficiency.

Technological Advantages

The core strength of «Crispikat» lies in its precise internal architecture: high density and perfect cylindrical uniformity. Unlike many other carrot types that tend to be overly tapered or prone to internal voids, this hybrid is designed to maximize output during automated peeling and precision cutting operations.

• High Recovery Rate: The superior flesh density ensures a high yield of usable product, crucial for maintaining structural integrity during IQF (Individually Quick Frozen) processing.
• Mechanical Harvesting Compatibility: With robust skin and excellent top attachment, this variety is optimized for modern mechanical harvesters, significantly reducing crop damage during the extraction phase.
• Color Consistency: The intense orange pigment remains vibrant even after thermal processing, ensuring the final packaged product remains visually appealing to the end consumer.

Who is this variety for?

«Crispikat» is not for the hobbyist gardener; it is a professional tool for commercial producers supplying large food manufacturing companies. The key here is predictability. For growers serving the processing sector, the uniformity of «Crispikat» is its most valuable trait, as it ensures standardized raw material intake at the factory level. The variety also boasts excellent shelf life, allowing for stable supply chains throughout the winter storage season without sacrificing firmness.

Strengths and Considerations

The primary advantage of this hybrid is its operational reliability and disease resistance. However, success depends on soil management. To achieve the signature cylindrical shape, light, well-structured, and friable soils are required. In heavy or compacted soils, the variety may encounter resistance, leading to shorter or slightly misshapen roots, which can hinder automated peeling machinery. Proper site selection and soil preparation are therefore essential to fully unlock the potential of this Dutch genetics powerhouse.
