Caradec F1 carrot is a mid-season, high-yielding hybrid of the Chantenay type, developed by the Dutch seed company Bejo Zaden. This hybrid is adaptable to various growing conditions and suitable for different climatic regions, including Ukraine. The maturation period varies from 90 to 135 days depending on weather conditions, making it suitable for both early harvests and long-term storage. The recommended planting rate is 0.8 to 1.0 million seeds per hectare, with a germination rate of 95%. For early harvests, sowing can be done in winter, while for long-term storage, sowing is recommended in the latter half of spring.
Caradec F1 carrots have a long, conical shape with blunt or pointed ends, smooth surface, and bright orange color both inside and out. The average length of the roots is 12–20 cm, diameter 4–6 cm, and weight ranges from 120 to 250 g. The flesh is dense, juicy, and sweet, containing approximately 11 mg of carotene and 8–8.3% sugar, making the carrot particularly valuable for processing into juices, baby food, canning, and freezing. A small core and high concentration of dry matter contribute to excellent taste and long-term storage qualities.
Caradec F1 plants have strong dark green foliage, approximately 40 cm tall, with high resistance to common diseases such as black leg, cercosporosis, cracking, and blossom end rot. The carrots slightly protrude from the soil, facilitating mechanical harvesting. Due to its characteristics and disease resistance, this hybrid is an excellent choice for fresh market sales, as well as for industrial processing and storage.
