Cabbage Aisberg

Field Performance of 'Aisberg' Leaf Cabbage

Working with the 'Aisberg' variety from Sedek requires a shift from standard head-cabbage cultivation logic. This is essentially a leaf cabbage, and its value lies in the uniformity and succulence of the foliage rather than the density of a traditional cabbage head. Based on operational experience, the key to success here is strict irrigation management during the 70-80 day maturity period.

Crop Management and Harvesting

Since the plant reaches a mass of 0.2–0.5 kg, it is perfectly suited for direct fresh market sales where portion-sized vegetables are in high demand.

• The plant structure allows for high-density planting, optimizing field utility.
• The vibrant green color makes it visually appealing for retail display.
• The genetics provided by the breeders, including A. N. Lukyanenko and the Dubinin team, ensure stable performance across various soil types, provided the nutritional program is consistent.

Operational Tips

Because 'Aisberg' produces such delicate leaves, mechanical damage during harvesting must be minimized. Using crates with protective liners or individual packaging at the site of harvest saves significant time during sorting. This variety is designed for growers who prioritize quality over mass production; it excels in high-end retail channels where freshness is the primary differentiator. If you are aiming for a quick turnaround in the fresh market, 'Aisberg' provides the reliability you need.
