Iceberg cabbage is a plant of the aster family with curly, thin, light-green leaves forming a basal rosette. The vegetative period is about 75 days, and the weight of a mature head varies from 260 to 320 grams. The plant height reaches 30-50 cm, making it convenient for cultivation in various conditions.
The optimal time to sow Iceberg is late April to early May at an air temperature of 15-20 °C. Planting is carried out in well-drained soil with moderate mineral content. The planting furrow depth should be 1.5-2 cm, the distance between plants - 7.5 cm, and between rows - 10-15 cm. Thanks to these growing conditions, the cabbage develops quickly and forms high-quality heads.
Salad leaves can be cut already five weeks after sowing, which allows obtaining fresh greens throughout the summer season. Iceberg is well-suited for use in salads and other dishes, thanks to its crunchy texture and delicate taste.
