The smooth brome 'Vizant' is a product of the breeding program at the NSC 'Institute of Agriculture of the NAAS of Ukraine', officially registered in 2018. This variety is designed for establishing highly productive hayfields and pastures in the Forest-Steppe and Polissya regions. Its key feature is its octoploid nature, which directly influences the nutritional value and structure of the green mass.

Yield and Forage Quality

‘Vizant’ demonstrates excellent regrowth dynamics after mowing, allowing for multiple cuts per season without loss of productivity. Due to its moderate green leaf intensity and balanced morphological traits (medium stem height, moderate inflorescence density), the variety provides forage with high protein and fiber content, optimal for livestock digestion.

• Fresh Consumption: High leafiness and the absence of coarse fibers during early growth stages make it an excellent component for green forage systems.
• Hay and Haylage Production: The long inflorescence and medium-width flag leaf facilitate uniform drying, which is critical for maintaining the product's appearance and nutrient content during winter storage.
• Pasture Use: Low tendency to head after mowing allows the sward to remain in a vegetative state longer, providing animals with high-quality forage even in the second half of summer.
