Description Bona
Bona asparagus bean is a mid-early dwarf variety with a vegetative period from sowing to harvesting of 75-80 days. Plants are compact, up to 40 cm high, with a sturdy bush, which excludes leaning. Pods are light green, straight, fleshy and fiberless, 12-14 cm long and about 1.1 cm wide, located mainly in the upper part of the plant, which reduces contact with the ground and improves crop quality. Bean seeds are white. This variety is characterized by high yield, reaching up to 14 tons per hectare.

Bona is excellent for direct consumption and canning, however, it is not recommended for freezing. The bean is heat-loving and develops best on well-lit, wind-protected areas with moderately moist, humus-rich soils that warm up quickly. The optimal temperature for growth is +20-25 °C, and the soil pH should be slightly acidic or close to neutral. The recommended spacing at sowing is 40-60 cm between rows and 10 cm between plants. Seeds are sown after May 15th with the possibility of repeated sowings every 7-10 days until mid-July, and the crop is harvested from July to September.

Bona bean green beans are rich in vitamins C and B group, carotene, as well as minerals calcium, potassium, manganese and phosphorus. They contain dietary fiber and have healing properties, including a diuretic effect and support of the nervous system. Bean seeds contain a significant amount of protein and carbohydrates. Due to the low glycemic index, beans are recommended for the nutrition of people with diabetes. The variety is also resistant to such diseases as anthracnose and bean bacterial blight, which contributes to a stable and high-quality crop.
