Pike Bean — an early variety of green bean developed by the French seed company Clause. From planting to harvest, it takes about 55 days, making it suitable for spring-summer cultivation in open ground. The plant is bushy, reaching up to 55 cm in height, and forms approximately 25 long, light-green pods, 10-12 cm in length. Young beans have a tender flavor and uniform texture, free of fibers and parchment layer, making them ideal for fresh consumption, culinary use, canning, and freezing.
The variety shows high adaptability to various growing conditions and agronomic practices, requiring no particular soil quality or moisture level. It is resistant to viral diseases such as mosaic and tip curl, as well as lodging and shattering. Yield potential is 1.5–2 kg per square meter, ensuring high productivity and marketability. Recommended seeding rate is 300–350 thousand seeds per hectare.
Pike Bean is suitable for cultivation both in open and protected ground, expanding its usability across various climatic conditions, including regions of Ukraine. Seeds are dark green and supplied in packages of 5,000 or 100,000 units. Due to its excellent taste and disease resistance, the variety is widely used in both commercial farms and home gardens, ensuring a steady and high-quality harvest.
