Bean Contada

Technical Potential of the Kontada Variety

German breeding by Van Waveren Saaten is traditionally focused on achieving benchmark marketability parameters, and the "Kontada" bean variety fully implements this approach. The success of this variety is based on precise fruit morphology, which allows for the mechanization of the harvesting process without compromising crop quality.

Morphological Indicators and Crop Standardization

The key advantage of "Kontada" is its high bean uniformity. The pod diameter is 9–10 mm—a critical parameter for the processing industry and retail. This calibration eliminates the need for additional sorting, thereby reducing production processing costs. The white color of the beans at technical maturity indicates a low pigment content in the skin, which ensures excellent organoleptic properties and an attractive appearance for the final product.

Agronomic Advantages

• Harvest Optimization: Uniform ripening ensures reduced losses during combine harvesting.
• Technological Compatibility: The stable 9-10 mm pod diameter simplifies the calibration of post-harvest processing equipment.
• Genetic Control: Van Waveren Saaten breeding guarantees predictable variety performance in the field, which is essential for production cycle planning.

Choosing "Kontada" is justified for farms aiming to produce standardized raw materials. The physical characteristics of the bean make this variety an optimal solution for the frozen food and canning segments, where product purity and visual identity are the primary price determinants.
