Basil Gvozdichny

Spicy classic from the FGBNU FNCO

The 'Gvozdichny' variety is a result of breeding work by the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Growing. Over the years, this basil has firmly established itself in the market as a go-to choice for home gardening. Unlike many highly specialized hybrids, this variety demonstrates consistency and a distinct aromatic profile that enthusiasts of intense flavors highly value.

Variety features and culinary profile

The main distinctive feature of this basil is its complex bouquet, combining pronounced notes of clove and anise. Such aromatic properties make it an essential component for culinary experiments. Its taste qualities are characterized as spicy and highly intense, allowing for smaller portions of greens to achieve the desired effect in any dish.

• Appearance: The plant forms a compact bush reaching 20 to 40 cm in height, making it an ideal candidate for home cultivation on windowsills or balconies.
• Leaves: The variety features large leaves, which simplifies harvesting and makes them convenient for salads.
• Color Palette: The foliage ranges from rich green to deep purple, giving the plants an ornamental look.

Application and cultivation

'Gvozdichny' is highly effective as a fresh seasoning. Its vibrant flavor shines in marinades for preservation, adding piquancy to vegetable preserves. Due to its undemanding nature, this variety is a favorite among those practicing year-round indoor herb gardening. It does not require the specific conditions often associated with sensitive hybrids, ensuring a predictable result when basic care guidelines for aromatic herbs are followed.
