The barley variety Torbellino is one of the highest-yielding varieties cultivated in the Udmurt Republic. From 2014 to 2017, it consistently demonstrated high yields, reaching 3.40–3.57 tons per hectare, which is 8–13% higher than the standard. This variety is characterized by good adaptability and ecological resilience, confirmed by trials conducted in various natural-climatic zones of the region. Yield of Torbellino varies depending on the year and environmental conditions, but maintains a high level of stability and stress resistance. Torbellino is a cereal crop widely used in the food industry. Barley grains are used to produce confectionery items such as sprinkles and cake bases, cookies, candies, and chocolate bars. They are also part of ready-to-eat breakfast cereals, muesli, porridge, and used to produce sweet snacks and kozinaki. Due to the absence of fats and oils in production, the product retains high quality and naturalness. In addition to food applications, Torbellino barley is valued for its beneficial properties. Young barley, obtained from ground leaves, is a natural source of fiber, aiding digestion and supporting healthy weight by promoting satiety. Regular consumption of young barley powder helps detoxify the body and maintain overall health. Thus, Torbellino combines high yield, broad usage, and health benefits.
