Barley Selenit

A Legacy of Odessa Breeding

The «Selenit» barley variety is a cornerstone product of the Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute (PBGI-NCSCI), which has significantly influenced the Ukrainian agricultural landscape over the years. Developed by Odessa-based scientists, this variety has undergone rigorous testing across various agro-climatic zones, establishing itself as a reliable solution for producers seeking stable yields in a challenging and fluctuating climate.

Agronomic Profile

This variety belongs to the intensive type. As an annual crop, it has remained a preferred choice for farms focusing on both extensive and intensive grain production. «Selenit» is highly regarded by agronomists for its specific balance of environmental adaptability and yield potential, making it a staple in the crop rotation systems of many agricultural enterprises across Ukraine.

Market Positioning

In the contemporary seed market, «Selenit» occupies the niche of a time-tested classic. Unlike ephemeral, trending hybrids, this variety carries a reputation for predictability. Its primary application lies in high-quality commercial grain production. Due to the meticulous work of PBGI breeders, the variety possesses natural resistance to a range of regional pathogens, which effectively lowers fungicide protection costs and enhances the overall economics of the cultivation process.
