SOLDO barley is a promising spring barley variety distinguished by high productivity and stress tolerance, suitable for the south-western region of the Central Chernozem. During selection trials, lines with large kernels (size 81.1–91.4%) and high thousand-kernel weight (44.1–54.1 g) were selected, which contributes to yields reaching 67.1–76.0 c/ha. Additionally, the grain exhibits increased protein content and resistance to abiotic and biotic environmental factors, making this variety especially valuable for agricultural production.
The biological characteristics of SOLDO barley include the complete development cycle from seed germination to grain ripening, taking into account growth phases such as tillering, stem elongation, flowering, and heading. The plant has specific requirements for light, temperature, humidity, and soil type, which must be considered during cultivation to achieve maximum productivity. The variety is adapted to regional conditions and possesses good biological resilience.
In addition to agricultural use, young SOLDO barley is a valuable source of nutrients. It is rich in chlorophyll, calcium, iron, potassium, folic acid, and vitamins A, C, E, B1, B6, B12. Powder made from young barley can be added to various dishes — cereals, soups, yogurts, salads, baked goods, as well as beverages such as juices, cocktails, and freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable smoothies, contributing to a more nutritious diet and supporting health.
