Sylphide Coronation Anemone is a perennial herbaceous tuberous plant from the Ranunculaceae family, distinguished by its compact size and elegant purplish-lavender flowers approximately 5 cm in diameter. Up to 14 flowers may form on a single plant, creating striking floral clusters. The plant reaches a height of about 30 cm, with flat, separate petals; various double forms also exist, adding extra decorative appeal. Flowering occurs from April to June, making the anemone suitable for garden decoration and bouquet making.
For successful cultivation, Sylphide prefers areas with light shade, such as under trees with sparse foliage. The plant thrives in loose, fertile, well-drained soils with moderate moisture. Before planting, tubers are soaked for one day in warm water, then for 3-4 days in damp moss or sand, promoting better rooting and development. Anemones grow well both outdoors and indoors, though tubers should be dug up or covered for winter protection against frost.
Sylphide anemone can be propagated by dividing tubers and rhizomes, root suckers, or by sowing seeds immediately after harvest into open ground. Due to its decorative value and low maintenance, the plant is widely used for mass planting, flowerbeds, and bordering shrubs. Its flowers are excellent for cutting and forcing, making Sylphide a versatile choice for gardeners and florists.
