The Romans winter barley variety is characterized by medium-early maturity and is intended for cultivation under various climatic conditions and regions. It is widely used for grain, feed, and other agricultural products production, making it a universal choice for agronomic purposes. Thanks to its adaptability, the Romans variety is resistant to various pathogens, which contributes to stable yields under diverse cultivation conditions.
Studies conducted in the Republic of Adygea showed that the optimal cultivation technology for the Romans variety is the application of 60 kg of nitrogen active substance against soil plowing. This approach ensures maximum productivity of green mass and grain, achieving yields up to 15.3 tons per hectare. At the same time, the variety demonstrates high indicators of feed nutritional and energy value, confirmed by crude protein content within 8.02-11.0% and metabolizable energy from 11.1 to 11.74 MJ per kilogram of dry matter.
The Romans variety fodder mass is classified as low- and medium-protein, however, in terms of feed units and metabolizable energy, it corresponds to first-class feeds. This makes this variety a valuable source of energy and nutrients for animals. Thus, Romans is a high-yielding and quality winter barley variety that is suitable for various agro-technical conditions and ensures a stable yield with high-quality feed products.
