Barley Marthe

Stable yields even in challenging conditions

Winter barley "Marte" from the German breeding company Saaten-Union is a prime example of genetics working to reduce field risks.

Crop health: immunity against primary threats

Foliar infections are the main headache for barley growers. "Marte" demonstrates a decent level of resistance to diseases that usually sap yield potential. The variety holds up well against:

• Rhynchosporium (leaf scald);
• Net blotch;
• Dwarf leaf rust.

Even in wet and cool springs, the risk of Mycosphaerella blotch, brown spot, and powdery mildew remains controlled. This saves the budget on additional fungicide sprays: in practice, follow a standard protection scheme without emergency applications.

Agronomic profile and field performance

Developed by Nordsaat Saatzucht, this variety is tailored to European climatic conditions, which have successfully adapted to our soils. The plant features a strong stem, which is critical during intensive nitrogen feeding — "Marte" does not lodge, preserving the ear until harvest. For the operator, this means smooth combine operation with zero losses from lodged crops.

The variety is low-maintenance: uniform emergence and a vigorous start in autumn allow it to enter winter well-established. Spring regrowth is consistent, without gaps.

Why choose "Marte"?

It is a reliable workhorse for those looking to minimize agronomic risks. Its high phytosanitary resistance allows you to focus on productivity rather than constant combat against fungi. If you are looking for "German reliability" in a spike, this winter barley covers the need for a predictable and high-quality harvest at standard costs per hectare.
