Barley Novyi Svitanok

Technical Overview of the «Novyi Svitanok» Barley Variety

Developed by the Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute (National Center of Seed Science and Cultivar Investigation), the «Novyi Svitanok» barley variety is engineered for high performance in intensive farming systems. Its design prioritizes both phytosanitary stability and consistent grain quality, serving as a reliable production tool.

Genetic Resilience and Field Performance

The core of this variety’s effectiveness lies in its genetic resistance to primary barley pathogens. «Novyi Svitanok» shows high resistance levels to Helminthosporium leaf blight, powdery mildew, and dwarf leaf rust. By mitigating these biological risks, the variety allows for optimized plant metabolism, ensuring resources are directed toward grain development rather than fighting disease cycles.

Key Grain Metrics

• Kernel Weight: The weight per 1,000 grains ranges consistently between 42 and 44 grams, contributing to high germination vigor and robust early-stage stand establishment.
• Protein Profile: The content of nitrogenous substances in the dry matter is 12%, making it a versatile option for both livestock feed and industrial processing.

This variety represents the best of Ukrainian breeding, specifically calibrated for regional climatic stressors. By combining large-kernel characteristics with a stable 12% protein content, «Novyi Svitanok» provides producers with a balanced agronomic solution, minimizing operational risks while maintaining predictable, high-quality output.
