The winter barley brewing variety Britney was registered in 2015 and developed by the German breeding company NORDZAAT Zaatzucht GmbH. This mid-early variety is resistant to lodging and fully meets the requirements for brewing barley. Britney is well-adapted for late sowing, especially at higher seeding rates, making it popular under various climatic conditions. In recent years, the variety has gained widespread use in Europe, and in Ukraine, it was first introduced into commercial cultivation in 2016, demonstrating high yields—for example, 68.3 centners/ha after sunflower on a 25-hectare area. The variety is characterized by high yields, reaching 68–80 centners/ha, and optimal plant height of 60–70 cm. Barley forms good tillers, which contributes to a full crop. The recommended seeding rate is 3.5–4 million seeds per hectare, at a sowing depth of 2.5–3 cm. Britney is suitable for cultivation in all climatic zones of Ukraine, confirming its versatility and adaptability. Seeds are available in various reproductions, including elite and first reproduction, with convenient payment and delivery terms. Due to its agronomic qualities, the Britney variety is an excellent choice for the brewing industry. It is resistant to lodging and shattering, reducing yield losses and improving grain quality. High resistance to diseases allows reducing costs for plant protection and ensures a stable high output. All these characteristics make barley Britney a profitable and reliable variety for farmers and agribusinesses focused on producing high-quality brewing raw materials.
