Maize DN Legend

Efficiency in a Short Growing Season

Early maturity is the primary competitive advantage of the "DN Legenda" hybrid. With a growing season of just 65–73 days, this maize hybrid developed by the Institute of Grain Crops of NAAS provides significant flexibility for crop rotation. It is an ideal solution for farmers looking to replant fields after failed winter crops or seeking a reliable catch crop after early-season vegetables.

Technical Specifications

"DN Legenda" is a simple hybrid designed for predictable performance in the Ukrainian climate. Key planning parameters include:

• Recommended plant density: 50,000–55,000 plants/ha.
• Hybrid type: Simple hybrid.
• Originator: Institute of Grain Crops of NAAS (Ukraine).

Strengths and Strategic Use

The main differentiator of "DN Legenda" compared to longer-maturing alternatives is its risk management capability. By completing its development cycle quickly, the crop avoids the heat stress often associated with mid-to-late summer. This ensures a consistent result even in areas with unpredictable rainfall.

While it may not match the absolute yield ceiling of intensive, late-maturing hybrids, it offers a crucial trade-off: reliability. It is perfectly suited for small-to-medium agricultural enterprises that prioritize stable performance over high-risk/high-reward intensive farming. It is also an excellent tool for those needing an early harvest to prepare fields for winter planting, ensuring land utility throughout the entire agricultural year.
